The Evolving Job Market
The job market is continuing to evolve and it is important for recruitment agencies to evolve with them. We’ve seen many changes even since the big recession and with Brexit looming we’re already starting to see a shift in the employment process again.
Hiring time has been a longer process over the last 5 years, there are many interviews with sometimes screening involved so the average hiring time could take anywhere between 2-3 months. However, with the uncertainty of the job market after Brexit, this hiring time could be shortened.

There is a growing importance of transferable skills, employer’s are seeking more for less now and people with many skills or expanding their skillset tend to do better in the hiring process. Here’s an example of some key transferrable skills: Communication; In almost every career, good communication skills are essential. Analytical Skills, Leadership, Information Management Skills, Project Management.
Evolving
We’re already witnessing quicker hires with some initial interviews conducted via Skype or a telephone interview. One thing is for sure with the current changing job market; technology is here to stay. Many larger companies use computer programmes to filter through job applications, picking out the keywords relevant to the role. From a candidates point of view; most can apply for jobs quickly and conveniently through their phones. As technology grows from a hiring point of view, it also is growing from a career aspect. Many places of education are now investing heavily on technology and IT side of learning. So future generations will see a completely different job market.
