Thinking of hiring a new member of staff? Here’s some interesting statistics to consider during the recruitment process:
On average, every corporate job opening attracts 250 CV’s
That’s a lot of CV’s to get through for just one vacancy! On average only 5 or 6 people will make it to the interview stage and then, after all this effort, you don’t want the applicant to have found alternative employment elsewhere!
69% of job seekers would not take a job with a company that has a bad reputation (even if unemployed)
And 84% would consider leaving their current job if offered a job by a company with an excellent reputation. It’s not just about how you view the candidate, it’s about how the candidate views you.
Social Media
79% percent of job seekers use social media in their job search
This figure increases to 86% of younger job seekers who are in the first 10 years of their careers. The interesting fact is 2 to 3 employees claim their employer does not (or perhaps does not know how to) use Social Media to promote their company or job vacancies. Many company’s could be missing out on the perfect potential employee through lack of Social Media use. Also Social Media gives you an additional insight into the type of person the candidate is and if they suit the job description.
45% percent of job seekers use their mobile devices to search for jobs at least once every day.
54% read company reviews from employees on their mobiles, while 52% research salary information. It’s also important that you ensure your website is mobile-friendly.
46% of Millennials left their last job due to lack of career growth
And 65% of Millennials are more skeptical of claims made by employers now than they were in 2011. The top 3 things Millennials look for in potential jobs are: growth opportunities, retirement benefits and work culture. Very sensible young people!
Happy Recruiting!!
