Job Description

Our client, an international company based in Maidstone specialising in the manufacturing of paper packaging and bags, is offering an exciting opportunity to join them as a Trainee Tackler (Machine Setter) on a temporary to permanent basis.

The ideal candidate will have some machine minding/machine operating or mechanical experience with a real interest in learning new skills and becoming a machine setter.

The hours of work will initially be day-based Monday to Friday (7:00am to 3:45pm Monday to Thursday, with a 2:30pm finish every Friday).

Job Role

To setup machines at the beginning of each shift to ensure proper working order.
To perform testing procedures to ensure that machines work optimally during production.
To monitor machines during every procedure to ensure optimum running and minimise waste.
To troubleshoot problems during machine operation.
To ensure stocks of needed materials and parts are ready and available at all times.
To ensure that machines are producing quality products by managing periodic checks on output.
To ensure that regular and preventative maintenance procedures are carried out.
To maintain and clean machines to the department schedule.
To provide information on changeover times, production and progress to supervisors.
To assist the operators, and to pack production when necessary
To place parts in semi-automated machines
To perform safety checks on every machine.

Applicants will have:

A mechanical background
Some manufacturing background/experience
A good understanding of health and safety

The successful applicant will be employed on a temporary to permanent basis and will initially receiving a salary of £12.50 per hour (equivalent to £25,350 per annum) increasing to and £13.50 per hour (equivalent to £27,378 per annum) after the role goes permanent with the client.

Once a permanent job is offered staff will also enjoy a number of salary benefits including:

Attendance bonus – up to £900 per year
Production bonuses, typically £20 to £50 per week
25 days holiday plus bank holidays

The client site is based on an excellent public transport route and there is onsite parking for staff.
