Is there any truth in the age old sayings?
The toast always lands butter side down
Not necessarily true, it is likely that if a slice of buttered toast was knocked from the kitchen table it would land buttered side down. However if a slice of buttered toast was thrown into the air the chances it will land on either side are pretty even.
We only use 10% of our brain
The idea that humans only use 10% of their brain at any given time is false.
Carrots can make you see in the dark
Eating carrots will not automatically give you night goggle vision. However, Carrots do contain Vitamin A, which is scientifically proven to help improve your eyesight.
It takes more muscles to frown than smile
False, it actually takes more muscles to smile than frown! However, muscles we use to smile tend to be stronger as generally humans tend to smile more than frown, note the word generally!
Eating Cheese in the Evening can cause you to have strange dreams
In 2005 a study by ‘The British Cheese Board’ was conducted. The Cheese Board gave different participants different types of cheese to eat before they slept. According to The British Cheese Board, the results were that participants who ate red Leicester had pleasant dreams, Cheddar, on the other hand, led to dreams about celebrities,while Cheshire led to no dreams more than half of the time. However, this was conducted by the British Cheese Board and is not scientifically proven!
Cracking your knuckles will cause arthritis
Cracking your knuckles does not cause arthritis. Excessive knuckle cracking can however cause swelling and lead to reduced strength grip.
