As the glorious hot weather continues, we thought it would be appropriate to showcase some of the many amazing beaches that we are fortunate to have on our door step here in Kent. As well as the assortment of well known beaches, there are a number of hidden gems along the Kentish Coastline. Here are some of our top picks:
Joss Bay
Located close to Margate, this stunning sandy beach has a blue flag award for cleanliness. Sheltered by steep chalk cliffs, it is a real sun trap! There is a beach cafe, toilets, plenty of car parking and deck-chair hire available making it ideal for families.
Dymchurch
This huge sweeping beach offering both sand and shingle is well worth a visit. The nearby town offers an amusement park and a handful of cafes, and there is also access to the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, perfect for a family day out.
Botany Bay, Broadstairs
This hidden gem offers a wonderful sandy beach, with stunning views of the white cliffs and amazing chalk stacks. Unheard of by many, its a great choice for a relaxed day out and when the tide is out, Botany Bay is a great location for fossil hunting and exploring rock pools!
Sunny Sands, Folkestone
A firm favorite with families, this beach offers a large stretch of sand and gently shelving water. There are toilet and cafe facilities close by, as well as the Lower Leas Coastal Park which offers walking or cycling trails, an amphitheatre and a large children’s play area.
Greatstone
Offering two miles of soft sand and safe swimming waters, this is a great spot for a day trip. Sand dunes run along almost the entire length of the beach separating the seafront from land.
So this weekend, why not hotfoot it to one of these glorious stretches of coastline to soak up the sun!
