Flower facts: For many years flowers have intrigued us with their unique beauty and lovely scents. We have put together some interesting facts all things flowers!
1. It is against the law to intentionally pick, uproot or destroy bluebells in England. Half the population of bluebells are found in the UK, therefore it is rare to find bluebells in any other country.
2. Daisies represent purity and innocence and belong to one of the largest families of plants in the world.
3. Broccoli is a type of flower.
4. In the 17th Century Tulip bulbs were more valuable than gold. The tulip symbolised immortality, life and love. During this time the Tulips were so expensive that they were treated as a form of currency, certainly strange as a vase life of a tulip is 3 – 7 days!
5. The largest flower in the world is Rafflesia arnoldii these flowers can weigh up to fifteen lbs.
6. Roses were voted as Britain’s favourite flower!
