Job Description
Our client, a very successful educational establishment based in the Ashford area, has asked us to help recruit an HR Officer on an interim contract initially for 6 months to commence work as soon as possible. The successful applicant will be CIPD qualified. HR experience is essential.
The main duties of the role are:
- Working closely with the Director of Finance & Operations to assist line managers in understanding and implementing the Academy policies and procedures.
- Interacting with and supplying information to employees, department heads, and job applicants when required.
- Undertake all recruitment checks including those such as DBS checks, right to work checks and requesting references. To maintain the HR system (SIMS Personnel) updated.
- On-boarding of all new starters across the Academy including Nursery.
- Manage and process all leavers.
- Manage all documentation for pensions (TPS for Teachers and LGPS for Support)
- Work with external agencies such as the payroll provider and the occupational health provider where appropriate.
- Organising all data for payroll. The Academy currently runs two payrolls each month. This role is essential in the accuracy of these.
- Preparing monthly absence reports and payroll changes as appropriate.
- Establishing and maintaining personnel, recruitment records, files, correspondence, reports, and organisation charts.
- Statutory reporting as required.
- Maintaining employee file records up-to-date by handling contractual changes in a timely manner.
- Preparing paperwork needed to create new employee profiles.
- Responsible for the administration of all staff holiday, absence and cover requests.
- Ensuring that all HR forms are completed by staff accordingly; request for leave; sickness and back to work report documentation.
- Maintain a full and accurate establishment list and associated structure charts for the whole academy.

- HR qualifications and payroll experience
- Experience in the Education sector is essential
- Project management experience desirable
